Great
Has anyone ever had InDesign CS3 insert weird stuff? I was just flipping through a book I'm typesetting and there is: orange double triangles. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? I didn't put it there. I have never created those shapes in Illustrator. IT JUST APPEARED. And it's not a weird invisible or a marker or a highlighted warning thing -- I deleted it with the text cursor. When selected, the font palette does not change--it's the same font as the text. I hate this.

yes!! this happened to me just the other day. so puzzling.
Still, let's give credit where it's due: Quark could never insert triangles like that.
[Snort!] You want crazy, random, software-generated problems, let me strap you down and force you to work in FrameMaker for a few weeks. You'll run back to CS3 like it's your mama, holding a tray of your favorite cookies.
That's an insert point for a "Note." InDesign allows you to insert notes that aren't part of the regular text. It's for workgroups, if, for instance, an editor wants a proofreader to look something up he can add a note to the text, it doesn't affect the word count and doesn't print (unless you set it to print notes)
